I am sorry for writing in English but unfortunately I don't know German.
I have a 1988 Wartburg 353. The engine recently blocked/jammed/got stuck or whatever the term is. It stopped working. It was running on LPG and had separate lubrication system which I assume was the main reason for the fault.
I had another engine lying disassembled in the basement which I decided to rebuild and swap with thе damaged one. I was wondering can I do something to increase the power a little? I've heard about polished intake and exhaust ports and manifolds, widened exhaust ports, modified pistons(check attached image), "lowering" the cylinder head with 2-3mm, etc. I am not looking for some huge racing power mods, but I just want to add a few HP so the car can feel a little more "alive" and still be relatively reliable. The above mentioned modifications I have just heard from other people and I have no idea how appropriate are they and which one goes with the other. Any ideas, instructions and advices would be greatly appreciated.
I assume such questions have been asked in the forum many times before but as I said my German is terrible and Google translate doesn't help much so I can not learn from old forum threads
